Safe Makeup Remover Pads

For anyone who wears it, removing makeup is an essential part of every night before bed. It’s important to take off even the smallest amount of makeup, because if you don’t, the oil- and mineral-based cosmetics will clog your pores, causing breakouts, skin damage, eye infections, wrinkles, and puffy eyes, as well as making your skin appear dull.

However, most makeup removers contain an abundance of toxins. Here is the ingredient list for a popular brand of makeup remover wipes, with harmful ones bolded.

Water, Decyl Isostearate, Isopropyl Isostearate, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Isohexadecane, Hexylene Glycol, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Trisiloxane, Phenoxyethanol, Sucrose Cocoate, Chlorphenesin, Polysorbate 20, Fragrance, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hydroxide, and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid.

Overall, it’s linked to breakouts, skin irritation, eye irritation, allergic reactions, non-reproductive organ damage, eye injury, liver, kidney, lung, gastro-intestinal tract, and central nervous system damage, neurotoxicity, bladder damage, reproductive toxicity, developmental toxicity, and cancer. Not a great thing to be rubbing on your face and in your eyes! Plus, a majority of makeup wipes are made from synthetic fibers or non-organic fabrics, which are bad for both your skin and the environment, and often filled with more dangerous chemicals.

Clean Circle Reusable Bamboo Charcoal Makeup Remover Pads are a great substitute for the toxic wipes! Many safer makeup remover options are liquids coming in plastic containers, but these pads don't have that problem! Made of sustainable bamboo and in cardboard containers, Clean Circle's Makeup Remover Pads are plastic-free and both sustainable and safe! They’re super easy to use, just wet the pad with warm water and wipe off your makeup, then pop it in the washing machine and reuse! They work really well, and quickly, too. You can check the pads out here!
